Canon Eos 500d Rebel T1i Lens

I was thinking of buying a DSLR camera, which of these would be a good investment long term?

Nikon D5000
Sony DSLR-A230Y
PS: I am new to photography, I dont want to start with a point and shoot, but I dont want to buy a temporary DSLR to learn with either, I want to buy something that is going to last for a long time and has a good kit lens to start with.

You will encounter two problems with dSLRs. Once you get to know how to use them, you will realize that they are all basically the same. Second, if you are a careful and loving owner, your camera will last a very long time indeed.
