What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Canon FD 50mm 1.4 lens on a EOS 450D Body?
I really want a prime lens for my EOS 450D, but they are so expensive! I have the possibility of a Canon lens FD 50mm 1.4 with an adapter that AF will confirm the purchase. Before I dive in, I wonder not anyone know what would be the advantages and disadvantages of the purchase by this lens? (Besides the price!) Ie I would be able to focus to infinity? Any help would be welcome enormously
Oh, that's interesting. The FD mount Focal length is a little shorter than the EOS is such an adapter, that the infinity focus would be additional Glass elements which state can claim if you want a good adapter would you rather pay a lot. Quality differences between the adapters also apparently quite vary much, so that you should know exactly what to buy. So, while I'm a fan of alternative glass am seems that Going for FD glass vaguely risky. Look into the Purchase adapter for a different system, Pentax, Nikon, Olympus / OM, M42, T mount, etc. They all have excellent primes. Also mentioned as an alternative as a previous poster, EOS 50mm 1.8 is there quite cheap for used copies for as little as $ 50. EDIT: Also do not forget you do not get AF, you probably already know, know that it can be very difficult, even with AF confirm a screen without focus, those that come with DSLRs do not help much.
