Canon 28-135 or Sigma 18-125mm lens?

Hi, I really need som advice on which lens best of both, or whether it is better lenses roughly the same zoom range. I am an amateur photography and want a lens that is one step from the kit lens and goes a little further in zooming. I have so much research and still can not decide, so done. My camera is the Canon EOS 1000d/Rebel XS. So, what is it to be?? Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM or Sigma AF 18-125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC OS HSM Many Thanks, 10 points for best answer! If possible, one could also say, why do you recommend that lens? Thank you!

Sigma, there are u extra wide-angle and Sigma quality is also good (well, usually makes the same brand of lens and camera is better and sharper image pair, but well-Sigma enough for most use)
