Are Canon EOD 1000D and Canon EOS Rebel XS same?

Do not ask why because I do not know, but yes. The 1000D is (I think) in Europe and the XS is in the States. I have an XS and it's a really good piece of equipment. EOS, by the way, stands for Electronic Optical System - automatic lens

   Between me and my husband we’ve owned more cameras over the years than I can count, including many different Canons, Sonys, Samsungs and many more models. But, the last few weeks I’ve settled down to one line of photo cameras. Why? Because I was satisfied to take take notice of how well-designed and enjoyable the often overlooked (and widely mocked) Canon EOS Rebel T2 actually is.
