EOS Digital Rebel XTi vs. Nikon D80?

I want to get an SLR camera for the future, I won't buy it now of course but when I get better and perhaps want to try out an SLR camera that works well. My top two are the one's in the title, they both have their pro's and con's but I want to ask actual people what they think.

Hi, Both of these cameras are very nice, it's up to the photographer how the photos come out anyway LOL.... What you might consider is the cost of lenses, Nikon is a little higher priced. The camera body is the cheap part, lenses add up fast and you will need a few to match what your S5 will do. There is a larger selection of Canon lenses.

Remember what ever brand you start buying lenses for, when you go to get a new camera you will have to stay with that brand or sell all of your lenses and start over. I'm a Canon fan and have three of them, the G3, 300D, and 400D. I have no complaints about my XTi and really like the larger LCD screen and especially the larger fonts.
