Is it bad to use class, an SD card, which 'is different than the camera?

I want to buy the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. I read comments about them, and someone said to use Class 6 SD cards. I know it is not possible, an SD card, whose class is higher (ie a card with Class 10 Class 6-camera use), but it is possible to use an SD card with a lower class? Would I be able to use a Class 4 card with this camera? Or would the camera does not operate at its optimum level?

You can map each class to take pictures. For smooth, you must have at least the sixth class A higher class is also ok ... it only costs more and you get no real benefit. A class 4 will not harm your camera, but if your video is choppy or the sound and a hidden, this will be the reason.
