Can someone help explain, aperture, shutter speed and depth of field?

I have a Canon EOS 650 from my mother, and no idea how it works. Well, I, kind, but I do not understand it as good as I wanted, I did. Mainly aperture and depth are the biggest problems? How the Shutter Priority mode and the time automatic. WtF? Yes, I will definitely always a book soon

Lets start with the depth of field. DOF is the area in the photo is sharp. For some shots you want a very shallow DOF. For example, a portrait. With a portrait that you want the person in focus and blur the background. For a landscape shot, you want everything in focus from near to far. Aperture controls two things. 1. Aperture works in conjunction with the shutter speed and ISO for correct exposure to obtain. A change in the shutter speed or ISO will require a corresponding change to achieve the correct aperture exposure. The aperture of the lens is the size of the hole, the light transmits light through to expose the sensor. The larger the hole the more light is also on Aperture control DOF. For a shallow DOF you have a large aperture (smallest number), such as F2.8. Each lens is different, but most consumer zoom lenses are in the F4 to be F5.6 area. For a deep DOF, or where everything is in focus, a small aperture such as F22. Most photos will be somewhere in the middle even though it off on this issue, and your left. Shutter: Is watch the time that the shutter opens is to expose the film or sensor. Shutter works in conjunction with the aperture and ISO to get the correct exposure. A change of the aperture requires a corresponding Change either the shutter speed or aperture priority mode, ISO: Here you can set the desired aperture and the camera's shutter speed. Shutter priority mode: Here You set your desired shutter speed and the camera selects the aperture. I hope this helps. I suggest you at least pick up a book about the exposure and, if possible to a class.
