Canon EOS 500D or Nikon D5000?
I am buying a camera TOMORROW but I've been stuck between these two cameras for days now and I have no idea which one to choose! I am a beginner but I am looking to keep this camera for a very long while so I want it to be everything that I'm looking for. As I am a beginner I have no idea what anything is called on camera yet so you will have to bare with me while I sound stupid!
I want
- very clear/sharp pictures
- great detail
- great video quality
- i know you can probably do it with a lot of SLR cameras but i want it that way when the background goes blurred and the main object in the photo is clear and really detailed
- pictures to take really fast
- have a lot of different modes
any help at all would be brilliant! thank you
tell me ANYTHING you know about any of the two cameras, as much as you like. i'd like to know everything about this camera so i am REALLY sure on which one i want to buy

500D compared to the competition isn't so good. I don't know what Canon wanted but the sensor isn't so good when at ISO 800+.
D5000 is better, but better than both is the newest and cheaper beginner DSLR (same level), the D3100.
All will give you crips photos, but you must understand the basics
Details dont depend on the megapixels but on quality, which all have excellent
- Video - dont shoot in FUll HD if your PC cant edit/view them.
- Blurring the background is the easiest thing with a DSLR 
- Really fast pictures at 500$-800$ is hard to get. These 3 models are at 3.4 and 4fps, D3100 is 3fps
- Modes..Hah, all modes are the same, it's marketing. You should use Manual mode for a 500$+ camera or your pictures will be the same
