Canon Eos Mark Ii Ds Do you think 35mm DSLR's can have the size, up to 39 megapixel image?
The largest image size of a 35 mm DSLR now 16.7 megapixels (Canon EOS-1 Ds Mark II) The largest size a medium format DSLR by now is 39 megapixels (Hasselblad H3D-39) Do you think camera manufacturers eventually will develop 35 mm SLR's with a 39 megapixel image size?
I seriously doubt that there is a lens in existence, with this kind of resolution. Even the Nikon D2X and Canon 1Ds MKII are very picky about the lens in use, and can not squeeze-out used their full resolution and when, the conditions a outstanding under the right lens. Since the medium-format sensor is larger, it does not take that much space on demand, the lens in use, although 39 megapixels, in addition, Noise levels would be terrible. I think the next step might be 22 or 24 megapixels, but I do not really expect that the resolution of 35mm Basic DSLRs to go beyond that.
